Welcome to the official website of Public Libraries Western Australia Inc. (PLWA), your gateway to the vibrant world of public libraries in Western Australia.
Established in 2009, PLWA serves as the representative body for public libraries across the state. Our mission is clear: to advocate tirelessly for the interests of public libraries, collaborating closely with the state government, Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA), and national and international bodies such as the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), and the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA).
PLWA understands the vital role that public libraries play in fostering knowledge, literacy, and community engagement. Through advocacy and partnership we strive to ensure that public libraries receive the support they need to thrive and serve their communities effectively.
Membership of PLWA is open to all local government library systems in Western Australia. Annual subscriptions are due each October, offering members access to a wide range of resources, networking opportunities, and advocacy support.

Join us in championing the invaluable contributions of public libraries to the cultural, educational, and social fabric of Western Australia. Together we can ensure that these essential institutions continue to thrive and enrich the lives of all who use them.
